How to read this screen
Every fund below is in an established uptrend (price in an uptrend with the 50-day average above the 150-day) yet has cooled off enough to trade within 8% of its 150-day simple moving average. That combination is the classic trend-pullback setup: the primary trend is intact, but the recent give-back has reset momentum toward a rising support level rather than breaking it.
Ranking is by 1-year total return, and the composition of the top of this list is the real message. Leadership sits almost entirely in real assets and non-US value — copper, steel and base-metals miners, integrated oil and E&P, Latin America, Pacific and emerging-market value vehicles — while US growth is largely absent. That mirrors a market in which commodity inflation, a firm dollar and cheap international valuations are the persistent themes; the recent pullback is best read as a de-risking wave and dollar-driven multiple compression rather than a break in those underlying earnings trends. Note how many rows are near-duplicates of the same idea (several international value funds, several copper-miner funds) — consider those one position rather than several.
Use the columns as follows: % from 150D SMA tells you how much cushion remains before the trend line itself is tested — the closer to zero, the tighter the risk point. % from 52W High separates funds that are merely breathing after new highs from those already in a deeper base. Relative Volume above roughly 1.5x on a down day flags heavier-than-normal distribution and deserves more caution than a quiet drift lower. RSI (14) under 50 confirms the pullback, and Chart Pattern highlights names still tracking a defined upward channel — those have the cleanest structural reference level for a stop.
The throughline for timing: breadth has been deteriorating, with the share of stocks above their 50-day falling sharply, so the highest-quality pullback candidates are the funds where the trend is intact and the underlying theme is being supported by a live macro bid — energy and industrial commodities — rather than the crowded momentum complexes (precious-metal miners, rare earths, crypto proxies) that have already broken down. A pullback inside an uptrend is an opportunity; the same pullback in a broken theme is a value trap. Check the theme first, then the chart.
