New 150D MA Cross-above — September 15, 2026
Query: new up trends in stocks or ETFs · data as of 2026-09-15
Built a fresh-150D-MA-crossover screen (above both the 50D and 150D SMA while the 50D is still below the 150D — the signature of a newly emerging uptrend) from the latest covered universe: 45 stocks ranked by momentum potential and 17 ETFs ranked by relative volume, showing sector/industry/theme, 1M & 6M returns, % from the 150D MA, momentum potential, technical patterns and ETF top holdings. The list is dominated by gold/silver miners and energy E&P/oil-services names on the stock side, while EM country funds and crypto-linked XRP products lead ETF relative volume. All row comments and the overview narrative were freshly applied and merged.
Fresh 150-day moving-average reclaims: names now trading above both their 50-day and 150-day averages while the 50-day is still below the 150-day — the signature of a newly emerging uptrend rather than an extended one. Stocks are dominated by gold/silver miners and energy exploration names catching the commodity bid, plus select health-care device, fintech and enterprise-software turnarounds. The ETF list clusters around the same two engines: precious-metal miners and oil & gas services, with Latin America country funds and crypto-linked products adding a high-volume tail. Screen is confined to actively covered US stocks and ETFs.
New Uptrend: 150D MA Crossovers
The setup
This screen looks for names that are just now reclaiming their long-term trend line — trading above both the 50-day and 150-day simple moving averages while the 50-day still sits below the 150-day. That configuration, rather than an established golden cross, is what separates an emerging uptrend from one that has already aged, and it is why the list skews toward bottoming or base-building situations instead of the market's leaders.
What the tape is telling us
Two engines drive almost the entire list:
- Precious metals. Gold and silver miners, royalty/streaming names and developers make up the largest single cluster — a broad-based sector reclaim rather than one or two outliers, which is the more meaningful signal. Silver-levered and junior names carry the highest volatility scores.
- Energy. Oil & gas E&P, royalty trusts, offshore drillers and oil-services names appear repeatedly, consistent with crude's outsized move and Energy being the only US sector posting a positive monthly return.
The rest of the list is idiosyncratic turnaround and opportunity: a handful of health-care device and biotech names, fintech/payments platforms with EM rate-cycle leverage, enterprise software recovering from de-rating, and a few smaller-cap industrials.
ETF read-through
The fund list mirrors the same two engines. Oil-services and gold/silver miner ETFs crossed their long-term averages, alongside Latin America country funds (Brazil, LatAm 40, South Africa) and the high-volume crypto-linked XRP funds. Relative volume is the clearest tell: it is concentrated in the XRP products and the oil-services funds, suggesting those are where new money is actually being committed rather than the gold funds, which are reclaiming their averages on more modest turnover.
How to use it
Treat fresh 150-day reclaims as watchlist generation, not a buy signal on its own. In a market grinding sideways-to-lower with only about a third of names above their 50-day, most crosses fail — the edge comes from confirming follow-through (rising relative volume, holding the reclaim) and from the sectors where breadth is broadest, which today means metals and energy. Long-duration hardware and low-margin industrial/consumer cyclicals are absent from this list for good reason.

| OIH | VanEck Oil Services ETF | theme | Oil Services | SLB, BKR, FTI, HAL, TS, RIG, WFRD, NE, NOV, OII | 411.51 | -2.33% | 10.45% | 1.69% | 2.69% | 1.5243 | 48.2216 | — | Oil-services basket concentrated in offshore and pressure-pumping names; the reclaim is a bet on international and deepwater capex budgets catching up to the crude price rather than on US shale activity. |
| RAAX | VanEck Real Assets ETF | other | Real Assets | PIT, WMB, TRGP, KMI, CSX, TRP.TO, NEM, PWR, MPC | 41.05 | -1.16% | 0.17% | 0.54% | 1.08% | 1.1218 | 47.4771 | — | Diversified real-assets allocation blending energy infrastructure, gold miners and industrial materials — a broad real-asset inflation hedge that reclaims its long-term line when commodities broadly strengthen. |
| XLC | State Street Communication Services Select Sector SPDR ETF | sector | Communication Services | META, GOOGL, GOOG, T, VZ, CMCSA, NFLX, DIS, WBD, TMUS | 114.03 | 0.96% | -0.55% | 1.02% | 2.65% | 0.973 | 57.151 | — | Communication services sector proxy dominated by the two mega-cap search/social platforms; the move here is really about those two names rather than telecom, with the dividend-paying carriers acting as ballast. |
| BTAL | AGF U.S. Market Neutral Anti-Beta Fund | other | Market Neutral | MRNA, OKTA, ELF, PATH, CCC, AVTR, CRL, GWRE | 12.59 | 6.16% | -11.46% | 0.30% | 4.40% | 0.9093 | 60.5673 | Downtrend | Anti-beta, market-neutral strategy designed to outperform when volatility rises and high-beta growth unwinds — the fund's technical reclaim is more a reflection of defensive positioning demand than a growth signal. |
| EWZ | iShares MSCI Brazil ETF | country | Brazil | VALE3.SA, NU, ITUB4, PETR4, PETR3.SA, BBDC4, B3SA3.SA, WEGE3.SA, AXIA3.SA, ABEV3.SA | 37.78 | 11.35% | 4.41% | 3.10% | 5.34% | 0.7945 | 60.5071 | — | Broad Brazilian equity basket heavy in banks, materials and state-linked energy; this is the clearest single vehicle for the Brazil recovery trade, so falling local rates and commodity strength both feed through it. |
| XES | State Street SPDR S&P Oil & Gas Equipment & Services ETF | theme | Oil & Gas Equipment & Services | OII, TDW, WHD, FTI, HP, SDRL, SLB, WTTR, PTEN, NOV | 119.34 | -3.90% | 9.11% | 1.72% | 2.35% | 0.697 | 49.0101 | — | Equal-weighted oil-equipment and services basket with a heavier small/mid-cap tilt than the larger services fund; the smid skew gives it more torque to a capex recovery but also more earnings variability. |
| BITO | ProShares Bitcoin ETF | commodity | Bitcoin | IQMM | 10.23 | 20.48% | 1.15% | 7.57% | 9.57% | 0.6397 | 53.7247 | Uptrend | Futures-based bitcoin exposure carrying a roll cost that makes it a structurally imperfect tracker; the reclaim reflects the token's sharp monthly rebound rather than any change in the crypto policy backdrop. |
| GDX | VanEck Gold Miners ETF | theme | Gold Miners | NEM, AEM.TO, ABX.TO, WPM.TO, AU, FNV.TO, K.TO, GFI, PAAS.TO, NST.AX | 94.13 | 4.62% | -0.26% | 4.56% | 8.45% | 0.6296 | 49.1989 | — | The flagship large-cap gold miner basket — a broad-based sector reclaim here is far more meaningful than a single miner crossing, since it signals money moving into the whole group rather than one story. |
| SIL | Global X Silver Miners ETF | theme | Silver Miners | WPM.TO, PAAS.TO, CDE, HL, PE&OLES.MX, SSRM.TO, FRES.L, OR.TO, BVN | 92.71 | 3.53% | -1.55% | 2.23% | 7.00% | 0.6276 | 47.5801 | — | Silver-miner basket with industrial-demand leverage from solar and electrification on top of the monetary bid; typically higher-beta than the gold funds in both directions. |
| CAOS | Alpha Architect Tail Risk ETF | theme | Tail Risk | FGXXX | 90.54 | 0.08% | -0.03% | 0.03% | 0.07% | 0.5048 | 55.5603 | — | Defensive tail-risk strategy parked in Treasury money-market instruments with an options overlay; an unlikely entry on a trend screen and best read as a low-volatility cash alternative rather than an uptrend. |
| ILF | iShares Latin America 40 ETF | country | Latin America | NU, VALE, GMEXICOB.MX, ITUB, PBR, GFNORTEO.MX, BAP, AMXB.MX, FEMSAUBD.MX | 35.51 | 5.68% | 5.40% | 1.90% | 2.18% | 0.4882 | 53.4905 | — | Large-cap Latin America basket spanning Brazil and Mexico; a broad EM recovery vehicle where the Brazilian rate cycle and Mexican nearshoring theme are the two dominant drivers. |
| GDXJ | VanEck Junior Gold Miners ETF | theme | Junior Gold Miners | EQX.TO, EVN.AX, AGI.TO, EDV.L, CDE, ELD.TO, PE&OLES.MX, HL, IMG.TO, AG.TO | 120.31 | 1.88% | -4.39% | 1.87% | 6.61% | 0.4872 | 47.1554 | — | Junior and mid-tier gold miners — the highest-torque end of the precious-metals complex, offering the most upside in a sustained gold advance and the most downside if the metal stalls. |
| EZA | iShares MSCI South Africa Index Fund | country | South Africa | AU, GFI.JO, NPN.JO, FSR.JO, SBK.JO, CPI.JO, MTN.JO, VAL.JO, IMP.JO, ABG.JO | 68.92 | 2.06% | 1.95% | 1.72% | 3.01% | 0.4 | 48.0546 | — | South African equity basket dominated by gold miners and the dual-listed mining majors; partly a precious-metals play and partly a rand and domestic-policy bet. |
| FXY | Invesco CurrencyShares Japanese Yen Trust | currency | Japanese Yen | — | 59.13 | 2.69% | 2.41% | 2.40% | 2.85% | 0.3055 | 61.2132 | — | Yen-tracking currency trust; the reclaim reflects yen strength against the dollar, a rate-differential story that would be a meaningful tailwind for unhedged Japanese equity and export-sensitive risk broadly. |
| ISHG | iShares 1-3 Year International | bond | International Treasury | — | 75.3519 | -0.37% | 1.10% | 0.14% | 0.21% | 0.3028 | 43.7838 | — | Short-duration international government bond basket; the modest reclaim is a duration and currency move rather than a risk-appetite signal, and it belongs on this list only as a rates-side data point. |
