High-payout names also carry more refinancing risk if they lean on debt to fund the dividend.

Companies converting a large share of revenue into free cash flow while returning only a modest slice to shareholders keep optionality: they can fund growth, buy back stock opportunistically, or raise the dividend without stretching the balance sheet.
