Small biotech FDA catalysts
Query: Small biotech stocks with upcoming FDA catalysts and at least 2 years of cash runway · data as of 2026-10-02
Built a small-cap biotech FDA-catalyst screen: 5 qualifying names (cap $50M–$2B, biotech/specialty pharma) that each have an upcoming FDA catalyst AND >=2-year cash runway — SRPT, IMCR, CAPR, ANAB, OCUL, ranked by nearest catalyst date then runway. A second table highlights the 4 catalysts within ~90 days. Catalyst labels/dates come from web/PDUFA-calendar searches (estimates); cash, burn, and runway from annual filings; prices/returns EOD. Includes per-name comments and a context narrative with disclaimers.
5 small-cap biotech names with an FDA catalyst and >=2-year runway; 4 report a catalyst within ~90 days of October 2, 2026. Catalyst dates come from public FDA/clinical-trial trackers and are estimates; fundamentals are from annual filings, prices are EOD.
Small-Cap Biotech with FDA Catalysts & 2+ Years of Runway
How to read this screen
Small-cap biotech is a binary, event-driven asset class: a single PDUFA date or pivotal readout can move a name 50%+ in a session, and most equity value is optionality on data. Two filters matter most — does a catalyst exist, and can the company survive long enough to reach it?
- Catalyst — a PDUFA decision date or a pivotal trial readout, sourced from public FDA/clinical-trial trackers. Dates are estimates and routinely slip; the FDA can act early, late, or issue a CRL. Never treat a date as a guarantee.
- Runway — cash & equivalents divided by annual operating cash burn. Names under ~2 years are structurally forced to raise (dilution) before their catalyst, which often caps upside. Here burn is derived from annual filings and can be several months stale; fast-burn names may be less funded than shown.
Patterns in this list: the qualifying set skews toward commercial-stage or partnered biotechs (Sarepta, Immunocore, AnaptysBio, Ocular) whose revenue or royalties soften burn — the classic profiles that can fund themselves to a catalyst. True pre-revenue microcaps with near-term PDUFAs (Capricor) rarely clear a 2-year runway filter, which is exactly the trade-off this screen surfaces. A secondary consideration is financing overhang: even well-funded names often raise into strength ahead of data.
Context
US Health Care leadership has faded over the past month (-2.8% 1M on the sector dashboard, with Neurology/Rare Disease and Autoimmune themes among the worst performers), so the tape is not offering a tailwind to these names. That makes idiosyncratic catalyst quality, not sector beta, the dominant driver.
Disclaimers
Catalyst dates are drawn from public news and FDA/clinical-trial tracker searches and are estimates only. Cash and burn figures come from company annual filings and may lag by a quarter or more. Prices, returns, and technicals are end-of-day; there is no intraday or real-time data here. This is screening information, not investment advice.

| SRPT | Sarepta Therapeutics, Inc. | Biotechnology | 1,848 | 17.5 | 801 | 205 | 3.9 | Phase 3 readout: Eteplirsen (DMD) | Readout (est.) | 2026-10-15 | 13 | -24.60% | -8.76% | -24.67% | -9.42% | -28.43% | -6.24% | 21.1 | 57 | 15.58% | -17.30% | 1.12 | 2.5718 | Sarepta is the rare case of a commercial-stage gene-therapy name trading near small-cap territory after a turbulent stretch of safety and label setbacks. The looming readout is a chance to reset the narrative on its DMD franchise, but the binary risk is real and a modest miss could re-open questions about the durability of its Elevidys runway. Rising R&D spend is why burn is heavy despite product revenue. |
| IMCR | Immunocore Holdings plc - American Depositary Shares | Biotechnology | 1,530 | 29.71 | 468 | 11 | 43.7 | Phase 2 readout: IMC-R117C (oncology) | Readout (est.) | 2026-11-15 | 44 | -20.50% | -6.98% | -3.63% | -17.31% | -26.12% | -6.31% | 18.8 | 57 | 28.95% | 32.87% | 4.38 | — | Immunocore's TCR-bispecific franchise gives it a genuine commercial base, so its burn is unusually light for a biotech and it is effectively self-funding optionality. The oncology readout is a pipeline-expansion event rather than a survival event — a favorable result would validate the platform beyond its lead asset, while a disappointment mainly costs time. ADR structure adds currency and liquidity nuance. |
| CAPR | Capricor Therapeutics, Inc. - Common Stock | Biotechnology | 520.3439 | 8.95 | 288 | 70 | 4.1 | PDUFA: Deramiocel (DMD cardiomyopathy) | PDUFA date | 2026-11-22 | 51 | -9.50% | -60.10% | -72.13% | 14.45% | -74.67% | -58.75% | 4 | 49 | -100.00% | 0.00% | — | — | Capricor is the most binary name here: a tiny commercial footprint, a fresh financing that loaded the balance sheet, and a PDUFA that will define the equity. The deep drawdown signals the market is pricing meaningful approval risk in DMD cardiomyopathy. Watch for FDA advisory-committee discussion and any manufacturing/CMC friction — those, not the science, are usually what sink small-cap filings. |
| ANAB | AnaptysBio, Inc. | Biotechnology | 1,451 | 48.53 | 238 | 104 | 2.3 | PDUFA: Imsidolimab (GPP) | PDUFA date | 2026-12-12 | 71 | -13.09% | -22.12% | 26.20% | 127.70% | -30.48% | -10.25% | 90.8 | 10 | 157.01% | 44.58% | 7.17 | 5.2355 | AnaptysBio pairs a royalty stream from its antibody partnerships with its own drug pipeline, so it swings between cash-generative and cash-burning quarters — runway depends on whether milestones and royalties land. The looming autoimmune PDUFA is the first wholly-owned commercial event; a clean approval would reframe the story, while a CRL would push the value back onto the partnered royalties. |
| OCUL | Ocular Therapeutix, Inc. - Common Stock | Biotechnology | 1,529 | 6.96 | 737 | 205 | 3.6 | Phase 3 readout: OTX-TKI (wet AMD) | Readout (est.) | 2027-01-15 | 105 | -36.15% | -27.95% | -18.02% | -36.96% | -56.80% | -25.50% | 2 | 60 | -18.47% | 87.35% | 43.71 | — | Ocular Therapeutix is a commercial eye-care company betting its future on a sustained-release wet-AMD implant that could compete with frequent-injection incumbents. The readout is a durability-of-effect story, and the stock's collapse reflects deep skepticism about whether the implant's efficacy holds over long intervals. A clean result would be a category-shifting event; the company's cash position buys it room to find out. |
