How to read this screen
Every active ETF in the universe was ranked by 1-month total return as of the latest session (funds without a full month of trading history are excluded so the ranking stays comparable).
- Top 1M Gainers — the momentum leaders, split largely between digital-asset vehicles, energy/commodity funds and the AI/memory-semiconductor complex.
- Top 1M Losers — the laggards, concentrated in precious-metal and silver miners, uranium, rare-earth and critical-materials funds, plus rate-sensitive homebuilders and defense.
Comparing the 1-month column against the 6-month column separates fresh reversals from sustained trends, while %-from-52W-high and %-above-150D-SMA show how extended (or broken) each move is. Note the dispersion inside the two groups: this snapshot followed a broad de-risking session where breadth deteriorated sharply, so the extremes here are unusually wide.
What the two lists say together
A commodity split, not a single commodity story. Energy-linked funds (gasoline, crude oil, tanker shipping) sit near the top while precious-metal and industrial-metal funds occupy almost the entire bottom. That divergence — oil bid, gold and silver sold — is more consistent with a liquidity/positioning unwind than a change in inflation expectations.
Crypto leadership is narrow and high-beta. The digital-asset gainers are effectively single-token vehicles. They are the strongest performers on the board, but their leadership is a positioning signal rather than a durable, earnings-backed trend, and they carry premium/discount and launch-liquidity risk.
AI-adjacent semis are the only equity complex that kept working. Memory and accelerator funds appear in the gainer list while the market's average stock fell, which tells you where capital was still willing to concentrate. Thematically these funds overlap heavily — a memory fund, a fabless fund and an AI basket frequently hold the same handful of names.
The laggards are crowded, formerly hot trades. Gold/silver miners, rare earths and uranium have been popular momentum themes; several are now well off their highs and below their 150-day averages, meaning the trend itself has turned, not just the month. Homebuilders are a separate, rate-driven story.
Caveat on single-theme funds. Many of these vehicles are small and thinly traded. Wide bid-ask spreads, limited creation activity and concentrated single-name exposure can make realized results diverge from the underlying asset — particularly in the newer crypto and rare-earth products.
